I cannot put into words how special our Wedding Day was. We had unfortunately had to organise our wedding very last minute, due to some family news that had put a timeline on our wedding day. In the midst of COVID-19, organising our wedding was daunting and something that we were dreading due to restrictions on guests and lockdowns nationally.

However, from the moment we met Helen our fears were completely abandoned. She quickly organised for me and my now husband, Alex, to obtain a special marriage licence, which allowed us to get married in the time frame we had wanted. We met up regularly, normally over Zoom, but during these times, Helen made sure all our fears were eased. We joined Alpha, which we both loved, learning about God in a different way and joining a little community who kept us going through some of the darkest times. Our thoughts and views on the wedding were all listened to, and together we came up with a plan for 8th August 2020.

Our wedding day was wonderful. The church remains beautiful – different to what I had remembered from when I was a little girl but still beautiful. St James holds a very special place in my heart because my parents married there and I had gone there many Sundays when I was little with my family. 

From my first steps into the church, to saying our vows, to signing the register, we were comfortable. Nothing was ever too much. My guests all felt comfortable in the church – abiding to the new COVID-19 rules, but everyone was guided by the team at St James, no question was too much. I cannot thank you Helen and your team enough for helping me and Alex with our wedding day and turning what was the most stressful situation into a moment I will remember for a lifetime.
